Ursuline Academy's guidance staff and faculty advisors help students examine their interests, abilities and chart a path toward personal and intellectual fulfillment. From initial research through acceptance, the goal of the college admissions experience is to support students as they select the college best suited to their needs, where they can grow socially and academically and continue to develop their abilities and interests. In one-on-one counseling sessions and group meetings, students clarify their goals, evaluate colleges, present their qualifications, and manage the admissions process to make an informed decision. Parents receive a wealth of information and support as they navigate the admissions and financial aid process.
The goal of the Guidance Department is to provide students with knowledge of adolescent growth and development, to promote positive mental health and to assist them to acquire and use life skills.
Counselors meet with all students in grades 7 through 12 throughout the academic year. The progress of each student is monitored closely in order to understand personal needs, interests and goals. The counselors also meet with individual students when Progress Reports, issued each quarter, indicate weakness in achievement.
Counselors assist with all aspects of the college admissions process. The department hosts two fall College Fairs featuring representatives from 70+ colleges, individual College Admissions Representatives, as well as a College Information Evening and a Financial Aid Workshop for students and parents. During the junior and senior year, each student is provided with personal counseling and assistance in her college search and selection process.
Traditionally 100% of Ursuline seniors are accepted at four year colleges and universities.
Naviance Note: Students in grades 9-12 should be registered on Naviance using their own email and password. Parents are encouraged to review the Naviance program. Seniors are required to use Naviance for the college application process. Seniors are also reminded to check the scholarship tab on Naviance where we are listing scholarship opportunities as they come into our office.
