Ursuline Academy provides the technology and tools required to master academic subject matter, develop research capabilities, and establish excellent study habits.
The Science Wing's state-of-the-art labs, classroom layout, and technology encourage hands-on inquiry. The scientific method comes alive as students design and conduct experiments while examining the principles of biology, chemistry, and physics in action.
Students enjoy many opportunities to use informational technology. Courses include instruction in software for word processing, database management, spreadsheet analysis, and presentations. Electives and extra-curricular activities offer exposure to design and computer graphics. In the twenty-six station computer lab, students practice their skills in business application and experiment with design software.
A twenty-one station multimedia lab enhances learning across the curriculum. The study of foreign languages is vibrant and engaging; with software and audio equipment that improves comprehension, vocabulary, and pronunciation. In 2008, Ursuline Academy installed state of the art SMART Boards to enhance instructor presentations and to increase the use of multimedia software.
Research skills are essential to success in college. Ursuline Academy's librarian and faculty show students how to identify credible sources and collect valid research for term papers and other projects, emphasizing the highest standards of scholarship. The fully-automated library contains more than 13,000 print volumes and subscribes to forty periodicals and seven databases.
