The Ursuline Academy library supports the curricular and information needs of the school community. A librarian is available throughout the day to provide reference assistance and instruction in research strategies. Research skills are essential to success in college. Ursuline Academy's librarian and faculty show students how to identify credible sources and collect valid research for term papers and other projects, emphasizing the highest standards of scholarship. The fully automated library collection includes 10,000 print volumes and subscriptions to 35 periodicals. Students also have access to several research databases, many of which are provided through the Massachusetts Library System. With these resources, students will develop essential study and research skills needed to succeed in college.
The library also serves as a technology center for students to continue their learning experience outside the classroom. Equipped with both Windows and Mac desktop computers, students can work independently on homework and classroom projects. A cart of tablet computers and eight MacBook Air laptops offer additional computing resources for the library, giving students the tools they need to do research, type papers or collaborate on multimedia presentations. The library also has an interactive whiteboard for lectures and demonstrations.
