St. Angela Merici founded the Ursuline Order to eduate and mentor young women, telling her Sisters:
"You must be like loving mothers, caring for your spiritual daughters and teaching them with devotion."
Throughout the history of the Order, the Sisters have cared for each of their students as if they were their own daughters. The tradition continues here at Ursuline Academy, where Gabriella '12 thinks of her teachers as "moms" and "dads" guiding her on her path to the future!
"I am so grateful to attend Ursuline Academy, because I have made wonderful friends who I know I will be close with forever. Every day you feel like you are coming home to your second family, not just going to school."
"When the time came for me to make the choice to stay in public school or to apply to private school, it wasn’t an easy choice for me. I didn’t want to leave my friends and leave behind everything that I knew. I decided to apply to Ursuline Academy and I was accepted. My experience here is beyond what I expected. I have support from everyone around that gives me more confidence. The friends I made are welcoming and encouraging. My study habits have grown stronger and I feel more confident. Teachers give students more independence and I feel more prepared for tests, quizzes, essays and class discussions."
Katie, Class of 2011 Sophomore at Georgetown University
"My Ursuline Academy education has benefited me not only as a student, but also as a young woman. It has given me the confidence to achieve whatever I set my mind to, from figuring out logarithms in Pre-Calculus to improving my drive in field hockey. I believe that in challenging its students with strong academics, Ursuline fosters an incredible sense of self-confidence and independence, one of the greatest gifts that my Ursuline education has provided me. Ursuline’s excellent faculty and staff cultivate this confidence by desiring success for each one of their students. I have found that when my teachers genuinely believe in me, I cannot help but believe in myself."
