The 2020-2021 athletic calendar was unusual, to say the least, due to the modified seasonal schedule caused by the pandemic. However, during the spring athletic season, Ursuline athletes displayed their usual determination, poise, and success.
The addition of the fall 2 season in between the winter and spring seasons moved the spring season from its usual mid-March start to mid-April. Despite the abbreviation of pre-season practices, all of Ursuline’s spring teams -- golf, tennis, softball, lacrosse, and track and field -- had time to rack up winning records.
The golf and tennis teams went to their respective state tournaments and did extremely well. Golf won the North-Central-West Sectional Tournament at Nashawtuc Country Club, and ended up finishing fourth at the state tournament on June 29. Sophomore Victoria Veator of Bridgewater finished second overall.
In the state tennis tournament, Ursuline (shown above) had tremendous success with victories over Case High School of Swansea, Westport High School, and Pope John Paul of Hyannis. They made it to the sectional finals where they bowed to a perennially strong Cohasset team.
Congratulations to all of the athletes and their coaches for their dedication and sportsmanship, as well as for their successes on the field, track, and court!
