For the second year in a row, Ursuline Academy’s athletic program has been named the winner of the Singelais Award by the Boston Globe for having the highest winning record in its division for the 2018-19 school year. Ursuline’s win/loss record of 63.61% just edged out Notre Dame Academy of Hingham and clinched the award for the all-girls’ Catholic school division. The Globe cited “the 14-0 finish from the tennis squad” as a factor in the program’s success, adding “The golf team (11-3) was terrific, along with soccer (13-5) and basketball (13-6)." The swim team also contributed significantly, placing placed third in the Division 2 state swim meet, and second in the South Sectional meet.
Athletic Director Mike O'Connor credited all of the coaches for contributing to the program's success, saying "We have a fabulous group of coaches who dedicate themselves to developing our student-athletes day in and day out. The athletes, of course, deserve a tremendous amount of credit for balancing a challenging academic load with a high level of commitment to their sport."
