The third time is the charm!
For the third year in a row, Ursuline Academy’s athletic program has been named the winner of the Singelais Award by the Boston Globe for having the highest winning record in its division for the school year. Although the 2019-2020 rankings did not include the spring season, which was canceled due to the COVID pandemic, it does not take away from the pride of a three-peat.
Ursuline’s win/loss record of 59.05% came in six percentage points ahead of Notre Dame Academy of Hingham and clinched the award for the Singelais Division, the all-girls’ Catholic school division. The soccer and hockey teams contributed heavily to this year's win/loss ratio for the program, at 13-3-2 and 13-3-4 respectively. The swim team also contributed significantly, placing placed third in the Division 2 state swim meet for the second year in a row. Cross-country, basketball, and indoor track also had strong seasons.
Athletic Director Mike O'Connor credits all of the coaches for contributing to the program's success, saying "We have a wonderful group of coaches who dedicate themselves to helping our students succeed as athletes, as scholars, and as young women of integrity."
Ursuline athletes are looking forward to kicking off a modified season of fall athletics on Friday, September 18.
