INTERNATIONAL SERVIAM DAY

Ursuline schools across the country sponsored their 3rd annual International day of Serviam to mark the Feast of St. Angela Merici, foundress of the Ursuline Order.  Ursuline - Dedham alumnae participated in service projects at Cradles to Crayons in Newton, St. Anthony's Shrine in Boston, New Life Furniture in Walpole, and were blood donors at a blood drive here on campus for Children's Hospital in Boston. Thank you to all of the Ursuline Alumnae who participated!

A proud day for all Ursuline women as we hold our signature Women in Leadership forum at Ursuline. We are grateful for our alumnae who give their time and talent to return to Ursuline either in person or virtually for this event. Students in grades 9-12 are given the opportunity to interact with the alumnae in a small setting and learn about their professional  journeys. Several Ursuline Academy alums were in attendance at a SoCal Reception on Sunday, Feb. 19 at the Beachside Restaurant & Bar at the Jamaica Bay Inn in Marina Del Rey. Alumnae and friends enjoyed appetizers, wine/beer/refreshments, networking, and fun! ALUMNAE LENTEN RETREAT 

Alumnae gathered with Mary-Kate Tracy '94, Ursuline's Director of Mission for this Saturday morning retreat.  The retreat focused on how one can be transformed during Lent and how to make meaning together as Ursuline companions by carving out time and space to reset, restore and renew. Inspired by the work of Irish theologian and poet Padraig O'Tuama, this retreat focused on personal reflection and relationship building; the women gathered for this experience took the opportunity to connect with God, themselves, and other women in the Ursuline alumnae community.

Virtual Panel Discussion: Physical and Mental Wellness
The Alumnae Networking Group hosted a virtual Zoom event with Caitlin Burchill '08 (news reporter for NBC Hartford) as moderator, who engaged an alumnae panel for their insight and guidance on how to manage mental and physical health during these times. Panelists were Elizabeth Joseph '15,  Carolyn Tallents '04, and Kelsey Walsh '07.

Thanks to all of you who answered the call to celebrate your Ursuline sisterhood on the Feast of St. Angela Merici, on January 27. Due to the pandemic, we asked you to commemorate this special day with a "feast" for the feast day. Our families and alumnae had a great time cooking up a storm on the "feast" day of our foundress. Saint Angela would be proud!  As she said almost 500 years ago, “My last word to you. . . is that you live in harmony, united together, all of one heart and one will.”

Share this feast day with classmates by getting together with your own friends, in your own area, and in your own way.  You could have coffee together, walk your dogs together, go to a paint bar, have lunch, dinner or drinks together, or even perform a service project.  Whatever you decide to do on this feast day, be sure to take a picture of yourselves doing it and share it on social media. Members of every reunion class gathered remotely on Saturday evening, September 19, for Ursuline's first-ever virtual reunion.  While it was so nice to see so many alumnae, I think we can all agree that looking at a two dimensional screen does not compare to an in-person, on-campus gathering. It is our sincere hope, however, to bring you all back to Lowder Street next year where you can truly be together to share hugs, stories, and laughter. One silver lining - the remote platform allowed some attendees from far-away places!

Wednesday, May 15, 2013: Spring Alumnae Tea

Graduates of the Classes of 1947 - 1959, when Ursuline was located at 12 Arlington Street in Boston, came to the Dedham campus on Wednesday, May 15 for an Alumnae Tea. They enjoyed afternoon tea while listening to a current student talk about her Ursuline experience, and then shared stories from their days at the Boston Ursuline. We were so happy to welcome so many of our alumnae home on Saturday, April 28! We had a wonderful time celebrating at the beautiful Ursuline Convent. Thank you very much to the Ursuline Sisters for generously opening your home to us for the event. A special thank you to our fabulous class agents for all their help planning the event!
