Mission Day 2019
This year's Mission Day of fun and fundraising on Thursday successfully raised over $6,500.00 to support Saint Francis House in Boston and the Ursuline missions in Venezuela. We thank alumna Maggie Burns '76, VP of Philanthropy and External Affairs at St. Francis House, who returned to campus to speak at our kickoff assembly. Thanks to the efforts and contributions of students, faculty, staff, and parents, we are able to send the funds that were raised to the Ursuline school in Venezuela to continue their project to feed breakfast to the students at Corazón de Maria, and to St. Francis House in Boston, to provide supportive services to those suffering from poverty and homelessness.

Sydney Conti '15 Returns to Educate Students on Dangers of Vaping

The UA Department of School Counseling was happy to host Sydney Conti '15, a senior at BC's Connell School of Nursing, when she returned this week to deliver an engaging presentation to all Ursuline students on the dangers of e-cigarettes. Her presentation touched on the physical effects of nicotine, the addictive properties of e-cigarettes, and how they are marketed to adolescents. In short, the students took away that "vape isn't harmless water vapor." Sydney is one of a number of young alumnae who have come back to campus this year to share their experiences in college with current students.  We are grateful to her for her research and perspective on this timely topic.

Community News

Service Opportunity for Adults
A group of UA seniors doing their senior service at the VA hospital have discovered a service opportunity for adults in our community. The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Transportation Network needs dependable drivers for its West Roxbury station. Their purpose is to ensure that all veterans have a ride to the VA when needed. Volunteers are needed for a minimum of one day each week to transport veterans between their home and the VA hospital. Their late model Ford FLEX vans are clean and easy to drive. Drivers receive lunch and the gratitude of the VA veterans. Call the DAV office at (857) 203 - 5628.
