Community Voices: A message from Counseling |

May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rains fall soft upon your fields, And, until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand. -Irish Blessing Regardless of the individual circumstances in our lives, we all have blessings and are so lucky to be part of this community. I know I speak for all of us in the Counseling Office when I say we feel grateful and lucky to be working with your students each day, and in so many different ways!
While the Class of 2023 awaits the balance of their college decisions and evaluates their options, the Class of 2024 has begun the college search in earnest. We have been meeting with students and their parents/guardians to talk about testing, building college lists and how to visit colleges, among other things. This spring we will be working with the Grade 11 English teacher to start the students thinking about the college essay before we have a College Application Day in May. During the May workshop students will meet with admission representatives to hear about how applications are evaluated, receive tips about successful college interviews, and start the Common Application. There is much work ahead for this group of students, but they are eager and excited to take the journey together. At the same time, all students will begin the course selection process for next year, meeting one-on-one with their counselor to talk through the various requirements and options available to them. Though our seventh and eight grade students have a more prescribed curriculum, know that Miss Jones is also doing her quarterly check-ins to make sure everyone is ready and feels confident for what comes next. We will also be reminding all students to keep up their extra-curricular activities and be sure to engage with the community around them.
Please don't hesitate to reach out at any time if we can help in any way, and thank you for sharing your daughters with us!
Warmest wishes,
|

UA DRAMA COMPETITION Ursuline drama had a very successful day at the METG High School Theater Festival (Saturday, March 5th). They performed their production of 'Gossip' by Brian Hampton. The cast gave a very compelling performance and saw seven other schools perform. One judge said: "Thanks for taking on some tough yet highly important topics. I really like the use of the color red to represent the spread of gossip and the use of costuming, sets and props to portray how it seeps everywhere." Congratulations to everyone that participated including the three students who won awards, Roisin Kelley-Heafitz '26 (acting), Ashley Boucher '25 (acting), and Kate Connor '25 (costume design.) |

| | 2023 BOSTON BRUINS MIAA SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD WINNER: GWEN WALSH! A BIG congratulations to Senior Varsity Hockey Captain, Gwen Walsh for being awarded the Boston Bruins MIAA Sportsmanship award! Gwen was nominated by her coaches for her leadership skills, positive attitude, school spirit, and good sportsmanship. She will be presented with this award at the Bruins game on March 21st. Comment from her coaches: "There is no doubt that Gwen will be leaving a large hole on the team when she graduates this year. As coaches, we rely on players like Gwen to not only motivate her teammates but also hold them accountable for their actions both on and off the ice. It's always refreshing to hear stories of Gwen spending time with her teammates on off days or at school events, especially with the younger players. She even helps tutor some of the younger girls who are struggling with grades. She truly is the ultimate leader, teammate, and most importantly, friend. Gwen truly embodies the meaning of this Sportsmanship award in every way possible and you would be remiss to not consider her for this award." |
