Ursuline Academy is an independent, Catholic, college preparatory school for young women in grades 7-12. Founded in 1946, Ursuline Academy in Dedham operates under the sponsorship of the international network of Ursuline Sisters, the oldest religious teaching order devoted to the education of young women.

Admissions

Our Admissions team welcomes families for tours throughout the year, and we sponsor events designed for students to explore our campus, sit in on classes, and to get to know our community. Ours is a holistic approach to knowing each student as we review qualifications for admissions. ACADEMICS

Ursuline Academy offers a rigorous program of study designed to challenge and inspire students, and our faculty encourage their love of learning, reading, and scholarly exploration in the pursuit of truth. Winter 2024 Tryout Information

Winter team sports offered at Ursuline Academy include Basketball, Ice Hockey, Skiing, and Indoor Track & Field. Students in Grades 7 through 12 may try out for a sport. Participation in a sport at any level previously, or attendance at any camp or clinic, does not guarantee a student a place on a team. In order to be considered for any team, a student should attend all tryout sessions.

Inhaler/Epi Pen note: Any athlete who needs an inhaler or Epi Pen must have it with her.

Basketball (Varsity, JV, Middle School)

We have three teams: Varsity, Junior Varsity and Middle School. Based on the number of girls trying out, we will determine if there are “cuts.” All tryouts are in the gym. The tryout schedule is as follows:

Please note: depending on numbers trying out, high school teams should be selected by December 4.

Location: Ursuline Academy Gymnasium (RC)

*Please be sure to wear appropriate attire for practice (shorts, shirt, sneakers) and to bring water.

Ice Hockey (Varsity, Junior Varsity)

Numbers will determine if we have two teams, Varsity and Junior Varsity or one team, Varsity. All on ice tryouts and practices are held at the Roche Arena on the VFW Parkway in West Roxbury. The tryout schedule is:

**There will be an important parent/guardian meeting for all those who have daughters trying out for Ice Hockey on Thursday, November 14th at 6:00 PM in the Reynolds Center.

Indoor Track and Field (Varsity/JV)

There is one team with girls participating in JV and Varsity races/events. Practices are held at Ursuline and off site.

Daily practices are from 3:30PM to approximately 5 PM. Be prepared for practices and meets to be held during the week, as well as some meets to be held on weekends.

Practices begin on Tuesday, December 3 at 3:30 PM. Please meet in the Tea Room.

The girls should wear clothing appropriate for both indoor and outdoor workouts.

Skiing (Varsity, JV)

We will begin as one group; as the season progresses, the coach will divide the girls into a Varsity and JV team for races only. This will be done based on the girls' results during races and assessment of their ability by the coaches. All girls MUST participate in dryland training. This training will take place at Ursuline and help prepare the girls for their ski season.

Dryland Schedule:

Wednesday, December 4, 4:30 PM- 6 PM
Friday, December 6, 4:30 PM- 6 PM
Dryland practices will then be every Monday and Wednesday, 4:30 PM -6 PM until Dec. 20^th.

The girls should wear clothing appropriate for both indoor and outdoor workouts.
