To truly know Nicole Daaboul ‘25 is to realize that her commitment to service is at the heart of all she does. It is not difficult to see. She is radiant. Nicole is aglow with compassion, humility, and kindness. Nicole’s deep concern for others is tightly intertwined with her Greek Orthodox faith.
When I met with Nicole, she was preparing for the annual bazaar at St. George’s Orthodox Church in West Roxbury. It is her favorite weekend of the year. At the bazaar, members of the church raise money by working at different booths and stations that resemble a traditional Middle Eastern marketplace.
Nicole watched her mother manage a booth for years before deciding it was time to organize a booth of her own. What started with a Polaroid camera and a sense of determination has transformed into a high-tech photo station with a podium and swivel ring light that captures a 360-degree video of the person smiling for the camera. Every year, Nicole raises between one thousand to two thousand dollars at the photo booth, money that goes directly to the church. It is a long weekend of hard work, but Nicole shows no signs of weariness. This kind of work energizes, inspires, and fulfills her.
At Ursuline, Nicole is president of the Middle Eastern Club. Nicole hails from a large Lebanese family, speaks fluent Lebanese, and travels to Lebanon every summer. When I asked Nicole to describe her time in Lebanon, she was overjoyed to tell me about the tight-knit community, her loving family, and the way the water in Lebanon sparkles turquoise blue.
Nicole and other members of the Middle Eastern Club at Ursuline organize many fundraising events, including a bake sale that will secure donations for the Red Cross. Nicole is incredibly passionate about giving back to Lebanon; she does all she can to support the place she calls her second home.
In addition to her work in the Middle Eastern Club, Nicole spends her time at Ursuline skiing and running track, drawing and painting in our art studio and as a member of the National Art Honor Society, and undertaking projects as a communications intern. Outside of UA, Nicole dances and watches over her younger siblings.
In the future, Nicole plans to pursue a career in the medical field. The opportunity to help others heal, to guide them on their path to wellness, and to care for the injured, whether those injuries be in body or in spirit, is her true calling.
“I know it is the right path for me,” she affirms. “I can’t picture myself doing anything else.”
Nicole is the model Ursuline student, a young woman who emanates Serviam. She is poised, with a level of thoughtfulness and selflessness that belies her age. She serves her community by sharing her gifts in dance, visual arts, and sports, raising money for her church and Lebanon, and by bettering the lives of others with her kind and loving spirit. Watch as she makes the world a better place, one day at a time.
