Kristan Gately ’91

Kristan Gately ’91 was a state champion on the swim and dive team during her years at Ursuline; 50-freestyle state champion in ’88, ‘89, and ’90; 100-freestyle state champion in ’88 and ’90; 200-freestyle relay state champion in ’90; and 400-freestyle relay state champion in ’90. As a senior, she helped the team to an undefeated 11–0 season, winning the league, taking second place at sectionals, and fourth place at states. After Ursuline,Kristan went on to Harvard College, where she was captain of the swimming and diving team her junior and senior seasons. She earned an A.B. in American History, and later her M.A. in World History from Boston College. Kristan has taught at Thayer Academy in Braintree, MA, since 2000, and is currently the Dean of Students, a sophomore Class Co-Dean, and a teacher of World and United States History. Kristan’s two sisters, Tara Gately ’89 and Erin Gately ’95, are also proud alumnae of Ursuline. Kristan loves traveling, hiking, and family vacations with her husband Luke and children Joseph, Audrey, and Charlie.
