Caitlin Murphy Valair ’03, Ursuline’s “Most Promising Young Athlete” in seventh grade, went on to become a member of the varsity swimming, varsity basketball, and varsity softball teams as an eighth grader and was a standout in all three. On the swim team, she competed in four different events, was captain her senior year, led the team to a championship in 2002, and earned three Daily News Transcript All-Star awards and Southern Swim Conference All-Star recognitions. In basketball, Caitlin was named captain of the varsity team as a freshman. The third Ursuline player to reach the 1,000-point mark, Caitlin led both Ursuline and the local area in points, assists, and steals per game. She was named MVP all four years and was a four-time Catholic Conference All-Star. On the softball field, Caitlin’s teammates elected her captain in her sophomore year. As shortstop, Caitlin was a great fielder and power hitter. She was given the Daily News Transcript All Star as an eighth grader and continued to receive this award all four years of high school. Leading the team in hits, RBIs, and stolen bases, Caitlin was also a two-time MVP. Caitlin attended Bates College, earned a Master’s degree in education from American International College, and has been an 8th-grade history teacher at the O’Donnell Middle School in Stoughton, MA for the last 15 years. She also served as a basketball coach for Ursuline from 2011 to 2016. Caitlin loves spending time with her family and raising her three children, Callen, Donovan, and Mattie Grace.
